Major Duties:
The appointee shall engage in teaching and related learning activities, developing programme curriculum, teaching & learning, and assessment materials. He/she shall also support student learning, participate in academic and scholarly activities, supervise student projects, and provide academic and administrative support for the Master of Science in Digital Gaming Design and Technology (MScDGDT) programme.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing and delivering postgraduate modules, lectures, and tutorials in areas aligned with the appointee’s expertise, such as game engines, game aesthetics, mechanics and systems design, game AI and emerging technologies, advanced computer graphics, human-computer interaction, player psychology, game production, and business and data-driven marketing.
- Developing module specifications, teaching and learning materials, assessment tasks, and quality-assurance documentation in alignment with the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework and institutional requirements.
- Supervising capstone projects; providing academic advice and timely feedback; and participating in assessment, moderation and programme-quality processes.
- Conducting applied research, scholarly or professional practice; pursuing external research funding where appropriate; and developing collaborations with the digital gaming, interactive-media and technology sectors.
- Supporting programme administration, student recruitment and engagement activities, and other departmental duties as assigned.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Digital Games, Game Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Graphics, Human-Computer Interaction, Interactive Media, or a related discipline, with at least 3 years of relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level and/or experience in professional practice in the digital game development, interactive media or a closely related field.
Candidates should demonstrate competence in contemporary game engines, tools and production workflows. They should also:
- Be able to teach and develop one or more MScDGDT modules, particularly in game engines and advanced programming, game mechanics and systems design, computer graphics, human-computer interaction, game production, or business and digital marketing;
- Preferably have tertiary-level teaching, curriculum-development or student-supervision experience, with an understanding of project-based learning, assessment design and quality-assurance processes;
- Have a proven track record of applied research, creative or professional practice, or industry collaboration relevant to digital gaming;
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Cantonese would be an advantage.
- Fulfil one of the following Putonghua language requirements:
(a) Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or
(b) Received a recognised bachelor’s degree or above for which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or
(c) At least 3 years’ work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua-speaking countries or regions; or
(d) Attained one of the following qualifications:
i. Grade B, Level 2 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Language Commission; or
ii. Level 3 or above in the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (Putonghua) administered by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) or equivalent.
Notes:
(1) The post is at the rank of “Teaching Fellow I”.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different locations and outside Hong Kong, and to work irregular hours, shifts, and weekends, as necessary.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience.
(4) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus and/or nearby teaching premises.
