On April 26, 2025, THEi hosted its annual alumni gathering, “THEi Alumni Tea Gathering 2025,” at the multipurpose hall of its Chai Wan campus. The event brought together approximately 100 alumni and staff members for an afternoon of insightful discussions and networking.
Prof Alan LAU Kin-tak, President of THEI, opened the event with a welcoming address, emphasizing the importance of alumni engagement in shaping the institute’s future. The gathering featured two distinguished guest speakers:
- Dr. Mark MAK, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Roborn, and one of Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2024. Dr. Mark MAK shared his experiences in designing China’s first 5G motion-controlled robot and developing medical assistive robots, highlighting the intersection of technology and healthcare.
- Mr. Joe WONG, Founder of Hon Design and a renowned paper artist in Hong Kong. Mr. Joe WONG discussed the integration of art and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, showcasing innovative directions in paper art and sustainable development.
The event aimed to strengthen the bond between alumni and THEi, fostering collaborations that can provide students with more industry internship opportunities. Attendees, hailing from various industries, exchanged insights on current trends and future career directions.
To promote camaraderie, representatives from THEi’s Alumni Association organized interactive games, encouraging participants to connect and share experiences. The gathering concluded with refreshments, allowing alumni to continue their conversations in a relaxed setting.
