


Abstract
This study aims to assess the efficacy of digital fitness platform on students’ fitness tests in local schools. Funded by industrial partners, it targets the fitness test of primary school students (P1. – P.6) from 5 schools, measuring handgrip, sit-and-reach, inclined pull-ups, 1-min sit-ups and endurance run performance by the traditional manual measurement and the digital fitness platform. The measurement of balance will conduct via digital fitness platform. Initial manual assessments (e.g., teacher observation) will precede digital fitness platform to examine consistency and data accuracy. This research will contribute valuable insights into standardized measurement on fitness tests and support the physical education data submission to the Education Bureau (EDB) for Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) starting from the 2026/27 school year, and the ongoing development of digital sports area.
Objectives
- To compare the accuracy of digital fitness platform versus traditional manual data collection in primary school students’ fitness test results;
- To evaluate the time efficiency of digital fitness platform versus traditional manual data collection in administering and processing fitness tests;
- To assess the usability and acceptability of digital fitness platform among teachers and students;
- To identify potential challenges and benefits of implementing digital fitness platform in schools’ fitness program;
Significance
This study holds significant value as it provides evidence-based recommendations on adopting digital tools in physical education. By providing insights into how digital sports can enhance students’ fitness performance and importance of balance data for primary students, the research will contribute to the development of evidence-based practices within the field. The findings will assist primary school PE teachers in standardizing the measurement, collecting and analyzing data, ultimately benefiting students to monitor and improve their fitness performance.
