Entrance Scholarship

Entrance Scholarship for Self-financing Degree Programmes (for Year-1 Entry Students) (for AY2024/25 Intake)

THEi has set up an "Entrance Scholarship Scheme"1 in recognition of the all-round performance of outstanding Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) new Year 1 students who enroll in designated self-financing degree programmes. The scheme offers scholarships with award amount up to full scholarship covering four consecutive years of studies per award.

Full Scholarship

 

Scholarship Amount Criteria2

Full scholarship equivalent to the nominal tuition fee of four consecutive years of studies

New students3 admitted to designated THEi full-time degree programmes and have the following examination results:

 

  • Total points of 20 or above for the best 4 subjects4 with an “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development (CSD) obtained in the current sitting of the HKDSE Examination; or

 

  • Total points of 35 or above (including bonus points) obtained in the current sitting of the IBDP Examination

 

Condition for Scholarship Renewal5:

  • Awarded students must attain a Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above at the end of each academic year

Notes:

  1. Eligible students will receive notifications from the Institute and may be required to provide relevant information or attend an interview. No application is required. Students who are awarded with the Full Scholarship will not be eligible to those one-off scholarship listed in “Other Scholarships” offered by the same THEi programme.
  2. The criteria of scholarship is subject to annual review. Other achievements such as music, sports, leadership, community services and other extra-curricular activities may be considered. Awardees have to fulfill other conditions as set by the Selection Committee, which include undertaking to study at the Institute for the entire academic year. THEi reserves the rights to adjust the selection criteria in each academic year. The decision of the Selection Committee and THEi on the scholarship schemes is final.
  3. Entrance scholarships are only applicable to new students who are admitted to THEi degree programmmes for the first time. Students will not be eligible for any entrance scholarship if they are readmitted to the same or another THEi programme for whatever reasons.
  4. The results of the three core subjects, namely Chinese Language (A010), English Language (A020) and Mathematics – Compulsory Part (A030) must have been included in the calculation of HKDSE score.  The fourth subject will be the best subject you have attained in the remaining HKDSE subject(s). The Extended Mathematics modules will not be taken into account for scholarship consideration.
  5. Awardees of Full Scholarship have to fulfill other renewal conditions as set by the Selection Committee, which include requiring the awardees to:
  • Undertake to study at the Institute for at least one academic year in each academic year; and
  • Remain in the same programme, rather than transfer or readmit to the same or another programme during the study period; and
  • Take a minimum study load of 30 credit points in each academic year (the credit points obtained by way of credit transfer/module exemption are excluded.).
  1. Awardee of the Full Scholarship who meets the renewal condition is not eligible to receive the Scholarship for Excellent Performance of the same academic year.

  • Total points of 18 or above for the best 4 subjects5 with an “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development (CSD) or Level 2 or above in Liberal Studies obtained in the same sitting of the HKDSE Examination; or
  • Total points of 32 or above (including bonus points) obtained in the same sitting of the IBDP Examination
HK$25,000

New students3 admitted to Year 1 of the designated THEi self-financing full-time degree programmes4 and have the following examination results: 

 

  • Total points of 16 or above for the best 4 subjects5 with an “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development (CSD) or Level 2 or above in Liberal Studies obtained in the same sitting of the HKDSE Examination; or
  • Total points of 29 or above (including bonus points) obtained in the same sitting of the IBDP Examination
HK$15,000

New students3 admitted to Year 1 of the designated THEi self-financing full-time degree programmes4 and have the following examination results: 

 

  • Total points of 14 or above for the best 4 subjects5 with an “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development (CSD) or Level 2 or above in Liberal Studies obtained in the same sitting of the HKDSE Examination; or
  • Total points of 26 or above (including bonus points) obtained in the same sitting of the IBDP Examination

Notes:

  • MH125104/ MH125109 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hotel Operations Management
  • MH125108/ MH125110 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Relations and International Events Management
  • ST125104 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Aircraft Engineering
  • ST125202 Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Food Science and Safety
  • ST125203 Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Testing and Certification
  • ST125204 Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chinese Medicinal Pharmacy
  • ST125205 Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Nutrition and Healthcare Management
  • ST125206 Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Green Engineering and Sustainability
  1. THEi has also set up the "Scholarship for Excellent Performance" for progressing students with value up to HK$40,000 in recognition of their excellent academic achievements in THEi.
