Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP)

Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP) for Academic Year 2024/25

SSSDP was launched as a new initiative under the 2014 Policy Address to subsidise about 1,000 students per cohort starting from the 2015/16 academic year to pursue designated full-time locally-accredited self-financing undergraduate programmes in selected disciplines.

It has been announced in the 2017 Policy Address that SSSDP would be regularised in the 2018/19 academic year with an increase in the number of subsidised places to about 3,000 per cohort.

1 Students under the SSSDP will receive subsidies per annum. The subsidy is tenable for the normal duration of the programme (i.e. for a period of 4 years).

2 Only local students are eligible to be subsidised under SSSDP.

3 The programme has been included in the “Pilot Project on the Development of Applied Degree Programmes” of the Education Bureau.  From the AY2024/25, the annual subsidy amount provided to full-time students enrolling in this designated applied degree programme under SSSDP, will be increased to $50,810.

4 With effect from AY2024/25, the Programme will offer two specialisations, namely "Sports Therapy" and "Sports Management".  The "Sports Coaching" specialisation will be developed into a new Sports Coaching degree programme, which is not under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) in AY 2024/25.

5 As approved by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, the Programme will be converted into and launched as an applied degree programme starting from AY 2024/25.  From the AY2024/25, the annual subsidy amount provided to full-time students enrolling in this designated applied degree programme under SSSDP, will be increased to $87,770.
